Missing Malaysian Airlines MH370 Plane Suffered "Mysterious Sudden Power Cut Before Crashing into the Sea"

Doomed Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 had a sudden, catastrophic power loss which left it cruising on auto-pilot until it ran out of fuel and crashed, new findings suggest.

A report by Australian Transport Bureau (ATB) gives reasons why vital communications systems stopped working and why air traffic control were unable to speak to the pilots.

It is thought the Boeing 777 crashed into the Indian Ocean after it mysteriously disappeared last year.
The flight was heading from from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8 when it vanished along with all 239 people on board.

Investigators say the jet's Satellite Data Unit (SDU) unexpectedly tried to log in to a satellite about 30 minutes after take off.
This electronic handshake, known as a ping, is believed to have been the result of an on board power failure.

The unit rebooted itself using auxiliary power and fired off a series of new pings, allowing investigators to narrow down its final position - hundreds of miles away in the Indian Ocean.

According to the ATB report, many of the craft's other electrical systems shut down leaving the pilots unable to control the plane.

This supports the theory that a fire on board caused the problems, rather than deliberate sabotage, reports The Daily Beast .
If a blaze started in the hold, it could have damaged the Main Equipment Centre (MEC) where the plane's main computers are stored.

Flames and smoke could also have incapacitated the passengers and crew.
The SDU would have been able to continue functioning, because it is in the roof of the cabin.
The auto-pilot could also carry on - leaving the plane as a 'zombie flight' until it ran out of fuel.

The cause of the power cut is not explained by the report - only that it could have been due to technical failures.
Deliberate sabotage by Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah or his co-pilot is not ruled out however.
Neither is the chance they cut the power on purpose in a desperate bid to resolve a technical problem.

The outage could have been caused by crew members using overhead switches in the cockpit, or accessing the MEC itself.
So far they have covered 29,000 square miles based on satellite analysis of the predicted trajectory.

In July, a two-metre-long flaperon wing part was found in the island of Reunion, in the Indian Ocean.
It was later confirmed to be from flight MH370.

There was drama at Ejigbo Magistrates’ court in Lagos, on Tuesday after a 22-year-old man who was arrested and charged before the court did the unthinkable by jumping off the court’s storey building to evade trial.
The suspect, Tomiwa Bolaji, had already beat the court security guards and was attempting to escape through the adjoining street close to the court premises.

Both the court registrar, security guards and police officers present pursued him and later re-arrested him in the street and brought him back into the courtroom to face trial.
The incident caused tension at the court premises as the litigants present were apprehensive.

Tomiwa Bolaji was brought to the court and arraigned for allegedly stealing a generator set valued at N25,000 belonging to Moses Udeze.
The incident happened at 11, Adenekan Street where Udeze resides.
While he was escaping with the generator, he was caught by the residents and handed over to the police at Ejigbo Division.

At the station, Bolaji confessed that he actually stole the set to sell in order to raise money.
He was charged to court on a one count charge of stealing under the Criminal Code.
When he was arraigned, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Ishaku Babaji urged the court to give a short date to enable him present fact and sentence.

Model Charged With Murder of Millionaire ex-Lover(photos)

A model accused of shooting dead her British millionaire ex-lover at his holiday home in the Costa del Sol will stand trial charged with murder.
Mayka Kukucova, 25, was extradited from her native Slovakia after she fled Spain following the death of wealthy jeweller Andrew Bush, 48 in April last year.
The Bristol-based businessman was shot after turning up at his mansion with stunning new girlfriend Maria Korotaeva and finding Kukucova, jilted by her alleged victim six months earlier, waiting for him inside.

Kukucova told detectives she shot the dad-of-one in self-defence during a struggle after he fired at her but missed.

Kukucova has been held in prison in Spain since May last year.

A state indictment against her has offered the first official account of how 22-year-old Miss Korotaeva took refuge inside her boyfriend’s Hummer after they arrived at his rented villa near Marbella to find his ex inside.
Locally-based prosecutor Jose Antonio Nieblas wrote:
“The accused, moved by the unmistakable desire to end Andrew Bush’s life and at a certain point in a row they were having, made a sudden and unexpected use of the .38 special-model Amadeo Rossi revolver that she was carrying.
“She shot Andrew Bush three times, the first shot hitting him in the arm and the other two in the head.Andrew Bush had no chance to react or defend himself against the unexpected and unpredictable attack which caused his death.

“In an attempt to procure her impunity, the accused placed the revolver in the dead man’s left hand, took the keys to his Hummer and left the house making sure she closed the doors and impeded immediate access from outside.
“Following that she fled in the vehicle after a heated argument with Maria Korotaeva.”
He broke up with Kukucova after a bizarre incident in which he arrived at his large farmhouse in Chepstow, Gwent, to find her handcuffed with a pillow over her head after a row when she hid his passport to try to stop him going on a business trip to the Middle East.

Kukucova told Slovakian police before her extradition to Spain that she travelled to her ex’s house  to collect her belongings after being ordered to move them out by Mr Bush.
She denied breaking in - insisting she picked up the keys from an agreed hiding place - and said she only stayed in the property while she waited for a friend to arrive from Slovakia.

Federal Govt to Spend N500bn on Poor Nigerians in 2016

The proposal was contained in the 2016-2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which he sent to the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Buhari wrote separate letters to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, which were read to members in the respective chambers.

Punch reports that the document explained that the social welfare programme would be executed in
phases but did not categorically say whether it was meant to implement his administration’s promise to pay each unemployed person in the country N5, 000 monthly.

However, it added that that the scheme would also take care of the school feeding programme initiative as well as the “conditional cash transfer to the most vulnerable and a post-NYSC grant.”

We Are Paraded Because We Could Not Bribe Police Says Suspected Cultists

Seven suspected cultists, allegedly said to be terrorizing Ijora Badia and its environs in Lagos, have been arrested during initiation by officers of the Lagos State Police.

But some of the suspects identified as Nora Benson, 18; Monday Dennis, 21; James Francis, 31 and Jeremiah Okereke, 21, denied the allegation. The police claimed they carried out the arrest following the directives of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatia Owoseni, to rid the state of cultists and cult-related activities which have claimed the lives of several innocent persons in recent times, in the state.

One of the suspects, 18-year-old mother of one, Nora Benson, said she was attending a friend’s   party when she was arrested.

She said: “I live in Lekki but I used to worked in Ikoyi  before I fell sick and went for operation. It was not up to three weeks I came back.   I have a two-year-old son but I am not yet married.
“My friend, Blessing, invited me to a party. Everyone goes to parties even in a church we go for parties. I don’t know where she is now.   She left with her boyfriend three hours before I was arrested at the venue of the party. I don’t know the address of the place because I have not been there before.”

Talking about the tattoo on her skin, Nora, who is from Cross River State, adding she got the tattoo when she went to play football in Egypt.
“I drew it on my hand when my colleagues were drawing tattoo. I played with Ultimate Queens. I left my son inside the house at about 6pm when I was going out.  I thought I would spend about an hour.“So, I thought I was going to spend less than an hour at the place. I was troubled when I didn’t see Blessing who invited me. I decided to find my way out of the party venue so that I can go back home before the vigilante got me.”

Referring to the colour of clothes she was wearing, Nora said the red and white was not the dress code of the party.
She said: “I just decided to dress like this and I don’t know why these other people are dressed like me. I have told the police that I don’t have anybody around because I just packed into the compound about three weeks ago. I rented the apartment immediately I came from my village to seek greener pastures. I left my home town because the father of my child could not take care of me and my baby.  He keeps fighting me, using cutlass to attack me. Instead of me to die with my child, I had to leave.”
Another suspect, Monday Dennis also denied being a member of any gang, adding that the police refused to release them as they could not bribe them.
“My friend popularly called Million, invited me to a party at Ijora Badia. We were drinking at about 10pm, when members of a vigilante group arrested us and took us to the station.
“Some of us who had money have been released on bail while they transferred those that could not pay to SARS. It is one Yetunde that informed the police that I am the gang leader. I am not a cultist. The policeman that interrogated me accused me of being stubborn, disrespectful and not giving him money. I am 29 years old and a cleaner in Ikoyi.”

"Jonathan Was Not Incompent But Rather Inexperienced"- IBB

Ex military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, has however disagreed with critics of former President Goodluck Jonathan who described him as incompetent. The retired general instead says Jonathan was rather “inexperienced” rather than “incompetent.”

General Babangida made his stand known to The Interview magazine in the December 2015 edition. He argued that Jonathan “is a very pleasant person” and that he believed the former president meant well for the country.

Asked about the perception that Jonathan is a good person but was “incompetent”, Babangida replied:
“If you use inexperience, I will buy that.”
He however, refused to disclose whom he really supported between Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, who he overthrew in a bloodless coup in 1985. Asked if he played a double game by declaring support for both men when they visited him, Babangida said he was “intelligent enough” to know that he had “only one vote”
